Skincare: Serums

Skin Potions + Lotions 🧪 : SERUMS
.
I get a lot of questions regarding skincare and something I see a lot of people lack in their skin routines are SERUMS. I use serums to prep my clients skin before a fresh makeup application and I also use serums my AM + PM skincare routine.
.
🧪What are SERUMS? Serums are the most concentrated form of ingredients in skincare products.
.
🧪What does it do? Serums help target specific skin issues including fine lines, dark spots, dryness, and texture. Serums are water soluble and are thinner than a moisturizer for better absorption.
.
🧪Who is it good for? Everyone! There are different serums for different skin concerns. A well formulated serum will take your skin to the next level.
.
🧪When should I use a serum?
.
☀️ Day Time:
- Rinse with water
- Serum
-moisturizer with SPF
.
🌙 Night Time:
- Cleanse + Tone
- Serum
- Moisturize
.
🧪Truth be told I am a serum JUNKIE. It is true. I use different a different serum AM vs. PM and use different serums depending on the season.
.
💞My favorite serums include:
- @paulaschoice super antioxidant serum from their RESIST line (AM or PM)
- @skinceuticals C+E Ferulic Serum (AM)
- @paulaschoice Intensive Wrinkle-repair retinol serum (PM)
- @drunkelephant D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Serum (AM)
.
✏️Notes:
- Avoid stripping skin with products that contain scrubs or harsh cleansers, this allows free radicals to enter your skin easier causing more damage.
.
- When your skin is tingling or burning it does not mean its “working”, it means your skin is sensitized, dehydrated, irritated from a product not meant for your skin.
.
- Before buying something that someone is recommending, be sure to do your own google research. I see so many bloggers recommending products that may not work for EVERYONE.
.
☝🏼My advice before introducing a new product or ingredient into your daily routine, is to ask yourself:
.
- Do I need this?
- What purpose or issue is this going to help with?
- How is my skin currently?
.
I would love to know your FAVORITE SERUMS in the comments below so I can look into it and see if I need to add it to my kit! x Alexandria
